When being asked “What is NLP”, surprisingly often times most people associate, consider or relate NLP with therapy. Well, that isn’t technically correct after all. Although NLP is born from the field of therapy in the early days when it is newly developed, however, with the new studies and growing developments, NLP has become almost applicable in many aspects in our lives. “NLP could be the most important synthesis of knowledge about human communication to emerge since the 1970s.” — Science Digest

NLP provides a series of techniques, a systematic, methodical, and structured process to model excellence in human behavior and using it to apply on ourselves to generate the same/similar results.

Before NLP is developed, it started out with two geniuses, Richard Bandler and John Grinder, with the studying and modeling of Fritz Perl (a psychotherapist and the originator of the Gestalt Therapy), Virginia Satir (a renowned Family System Therapist), as well as Milton Erickson (a world-famous Hypnotherapist). As both Bandler and Grinder modeled these outstanding therapists, they discovered that there are ‘patterns’ in these therapists’ therapeutic interventions, so they identify the patterns and use those patterns to generate similar results. That’s where and how NLP starts, it begins with MODELING.

“NLP affords the opportunity to gain flexibility, creativity and greater freedom of action than most of us know how.” — Training and Development Journal
